5:17 A Youth Group For Middle School Students

2 Corinthians 5:17 "If anyone lives in Christ, he is a new creation."

5:17, the middle school youth group of First English Lutheran Church, meets every Wednesday night from 5:17 to 7:17.

Our focus this school year is on the ABCs for Tweens -- a 26-week program that communicates life themes in creative, exciting ways. "A" is for apathy, "B" is for bummers, "C" is for changes, etc.

Video clips, group-building games/activities and Biblical discussions happen in the first hour. During the last hour, we share a delicious meal, uniquely centered around the letter for the day, and then we close with a short worship service in the gym.

Examples of current and past 5:17 activities include:

• Annual Blast Camp at Imago Dei Village
• Leading the character roles in the Christmas musical
• Skiing, snow tubing, and water tubing on the Wolf River
• Annual Junior Youth Gathering at Park Plaza in Oshkosh
• Volleyball tournament every spring at First English
